So often I hear people use the term “iconic” but seldom is it actually applicable. However, when your brand has been around for 250 years there truly is no other word to describe it, ICONIC! The wondrous Veuve Cliquot celebrated a quarter of a millennium with a pop-up in Beverly Hills. This installation paid homage to the brand showcasing their collaborations, original shipping documents, evolution of the yellow label, hand-written memos from Madame Clicquot herself, and more. Madame Cliquot was truly a pioneer in the industry and extremely strategic when it came to growing the company. After gaining tremendous success throughout Europe she was quoted saying, “I want my brand to rank first in New York like Saint Petersburg.” While that might not seem like that too much of a tall order it’s key to remember the landscape was quite different in comparison to today. There were no brand ambassadors, influencers, or publicist so this feat could have easily crippled her. When it came to the ads they certainly focused on selling a lifestyle of luxury and it was something everyone wanted to be part of. So for those in year 5, 15, or 20 of building their brands take solace in knowing that you’re only getting started and it takes a lifetime to create and carve out a lasting impression.
